East Lakeshore Drive, Chicago, Illinois
Completed 1995.
One half of a floor of the Drake Tower, at the foot of Lakeshore Drive looking north in Chicago. This involved complete interior reconstruction of 3400 square feet on the 21st floor, including window replacement. The office-library for Mr. Bennett had $50,000 (at the time, probably $300,000 today) of casework, but no direct exterior view. When we suggested that a Chinese scroll be installed over the desk to allow the eyes to focus on a distant landscape view; he proposed an illuminated panoramic photo of the view from his home in Sun Valley, Idaho. That worked, too.
